NBC is planning to move reruns of the “Real Housewives” franchise into daytime syndication in 2010, reports The New York Post.
The article speculates that all four series (Orange County, Atlanta, New York and New Jersey) will be included in the daytime lineup, and repeats of the shows will run in back-to-back episodes.
NBC stations in LA, Chicago, Dallas, Hartford, Miami, Philadelphia, San Diego, San Francisco and Washington have already signed up to broadcast the shows.
Bravo, a subsidiary of NBC runs the first-run episodes of the shows. “‘The Real Housewives’ is a very successful franchise, especially popular with women,” NBC local media president John Wallace stated in a press release. “And by coming to broadcast television stations in daytime, this series will appeal to a new audience that is looking for something that stands out from the pack.”
It doesn’t appear that that housewives will make any additional money from the additional airplay because they’re not in an actor’s union.
That should send off some fireworks among cast members.
